Deepavali, a celebration of festival of light in India.I
want to tell you story narrated by a friend of mine. He made a difference to my
outlook. Deepavali a celebration of light over darkness, the evil spirit from
within. My friend made a choice of light this Deepavali. This Deepavali,he
already had bought a box of crackers and was joyfully bursting them away. A child
came along as he was bursting the crackers along with his other friends near
his home in a very joyous mood. The girl asked for a cracker so that she could also
have some fun. Seeing the innocence and interest in this small, ragged angel’s
face he was obliged and he gave her a cracker and she went away. After some
time she came back again with same innocent look and asked for more. This time
he was hesitant but gave her and curiously enough he also followed her as to
where she went. At some distance, she went and sat on the lap of a young woman sitting
on the foot path under the street lamp. The child started talking lively with her mother, showing her
new gifts. The mother with a smile on her face, shared the same joy as that was
on her child's face. In moments of cracker was burst and both were in the
joyous mood. And at that moment his joy was somewhat mitigated by the moment of
the daughter mother happiness. Maybe he'd have understood the happiness in their
moment compared to context of happiness in his joy of festival. He went toward
them and offered them Rs.100 note and gave the small angel a big hug, came back home. Maybe this was his moment of light. What this festival has brought him
is not what the joy of bursting crackers got him. He said to me he walked few
miles of his life in a few moments, being humans what we are capable of sharing
with each other. He said, he has promised himself to invest some of his time
and money in NGO and try to get more smiles to add to his joy. I only said
thank you.
